The objectives of the Driver Training Focus Group is to promote 4x4 driver training standards through the Driver Training Manual.
The AAWDC/Wesbank 4x4 Driver Training Manual was compiled over a two year period with the assistance of experienced off-road drivers from member clubs and professional driver training instructors.
It is a comprehensive off-road driving manual that begins by explaining the mechanics of off-road vehicles and addressing issues such as vehicle dynamics, tyres and accessories.
The section on driving techniques addresses both on road and off-road driving with comprehensive guidelines for assessing obstacles, preparing your vehicle, driving, and post inspection for all types of obstacles and driving conditions that may be encountered. Many experienced 4x4 drivers will probably learn from the various guidelines mentioned, thus being a valuable source of information for new and experienced off-road drivers.
AAWDC Member Clubs as well as Associate Members are using this manual for off-road driver training, with learners receiving a copy of the manual on successful completion of the training.
